'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 4 'Arkham' Review

Non Spoiler Review- This episode was one of the best of the series so far and promises more Batman mythos in the future of the show. It highlights many of the best characters in the show once again and includes many Batman Easter eggs. I think the show has been a little wishy-washy the past few episodes and I think this episode has found its way and gives an idea of where the show is headed. I'm very excited for what is coming in the future of the show!

*******There will be Spoilers from this point on*******

Highlights of the episode

1. Penguin- The Penguin is by far the best part if the show and this episode. The fact that he engineered a plan to promote himself within Maroni's restaurant and steal Marconi's money is genius. It's becoming clear that the Penguin may be the mastermind behind the war he speaks of. I can't wait to see him in power and control of his own mob, etc.
 2. Fish Mooney's plan- I found it interesting that Fish Mooney also has a plan to rise to power and can't wait to see it happen. I liked that she realized she can use a seductive yet lethal woman to control Falcone. It seems like she's planning to take him out and wonder what will happen regarding the plan.
3. Bullock and Gordon's investigation- I enjoyed this investigation and liked to see more of them as detective partners. I enjoy the two of them together and think that they work well together. Can't wait to see them on more investigations.
4. Penguin informs Gordon- I was so surprised that Penguin was bold enough to come to the doorstep of the man who told him to leave Gotham and never come back. It seems like he's going to manipulate both Gordon and Maroni to get what he wants.
5. Bruce Wayne- I enjoyed seeing Bruce Wayne slowly evolve more towards becoming Batman. I liked that he is aware that the city is corrupt and needs assistance. I can't wait to see what he will try to do to help Gotham.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 3 'The Balloonman' Review

Non Spoiler- This episode wasn't the best but managed to excel at giving some great moments for the characters and an interesting story. It also had some great action sequences and introduced Gotham's first vigilante but hopefully not it's last one. It also helped to build anticipation for the future of the show.

Highlights of the episode

 1. Penguin Returns- Once again Penguin is a standout from this episode as we see him kill men for a pair of shoes. We see him in the moments of his desperation where he must kill to slowly gain power. I also liked the twist where he showed up at Gordon's doorstep to tell him what he overheard. I'm looking forward to when Cobblepot is finally a crime boss.
 2. Montoya continues the investigation- Now Montoya knows that Gordon "killed" the Penguin at the end of the pier and I'm sure she will become a thorn in his side in future episodes.
 3. Alfred and Bruce- Alfred has a "sword" fight with Bruce so Bruce is beginning to get the training he needs to eventually become Batman. But I liked that this episode established that Alfred is acting as a parental figure to Bruce and I like the friendship and Alfred's concern for the boy that is further explored across the show. I especially loved that Bruce learned from the balloon man saying he was a villain because he killed people, possibly the show's root of Batman's "no kill" rule.
4.Gordon and Selena Kyle- Again I like the scenes where these two characters are paired together and we get to see Selena outsmart Gordon yet help further his case in finding the Wayne murderer. Selena wasn't in the episode for long but I enjoyed every moment she was onscreen. It was also nice to see Gordon continue his fight against the Gotham's corruption and maintain law and order.
5. The Balloonman- It was nice to see a different kind of villain, one who is a hero to the people. I liked his message to Gordon about who will defend the people of Gotham and that Gordon realizes that role is his to fill.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 2 'Selena Kyle' Review

Non spoiler Overview- This episode kept the corrupt environment that was present in the pilot and is one of the interesting aspects of the show. I was impressed with many of the characters portrayals in this episode including Bruce, Alfred, Fish Mooney, Falcone, Penguin, Gordon, Bullock and I was very surprised that Selena Kyle wasn't an important character in the episode till the later half, considering the episode was called "Selena Kyle",but the actress did well playing a young cat woman, who is feisty and demands to be called "The Cat'". This episode didn't contain nearly as many Easter eggs but there were several companies that were name dropped, including Wayne Enterprises, etc. There were also more nods to characters who will become villains, including once again teasing that Edward Nigma will become The Riddler. Overall an interesting episode and I look forward to the future of the show.

Highlights of the episode

1. Fish Mooney- I liked to see Gordon and Bullock confront Mooney once again for info and I liked the scene where Falcone came into her club and talked to her and he is aware she plans to turn against him. It was interesting to see her freak out after he has one of her workers beat and see her rage.
2. Corruption in Gotham- I feel that this is one of the things that the show handles very well displaying that even the mayor is corrupt and that the entire police force, except Gordon, is corrupt.
 3. Penguin's Rise- It is nice to see where the Penguin roots in crime began and he already is menacing having stolen a car, murdered, held a kid for ransom and will crawl back to Gotham once he is powerful enough. I can't wait to see him return to Gotham City.
4. Bruce Wayne- It was interesting to see Bruce Wayne creep up on Alfred and Gordon, test himself, and draw what appears to be ideas for what will eventually become the Batcave. I like where his character is headed and the roots for what will drive him to be the Batman.
5. Arkham Asylum- It was revealed that in the world of Gotham, Arkham Asylum has been closed for 15 years, and I'm hoping it will be reopened by the end of the season.
