Non spoiler Overview- This episode kept the corrupt environment that was present in the pilot and is one of the interesting aspects of the show. I was impressed with many of the characters portrayals in this episode including Bruce, Alfred, Fish Mooney, Falcone, Penguin, Gordon, Bullock and I was very surprised that Selena Kyle wasn't an important character in the episode till the later half, considering the episode was called "Selena Kyle",but the actress did well playing a young cat woman, who is feisty and demands to be called "The Cat'". This episode didn't contain nearly as many Easter eggs but there were several companies that were name dropped, including Wayne Enterprises, etc. There were also more nods to characters who will become villains, including once again teasing that Edward Nigma will become The Riddler. Overall an interesting episode and I look forward to the future of the show.
*******There will be Spoilers from this point on*******
Highlights of the episode
1. Fish Mooney- I liked to see Gordon and Bullock confront Mooney once again for info and I liked the scene where Falcone came into her club and talked to her and he is aware she plans to turn against him. It was interesting to see her freak out after he has one of her workers beat and see her rage.
2. Corruption in Gotham- I feel that this is one of the things that the show handles very well displaying that even the mayor is corrupt and that the entire police force, except Gordon, is corrupt.
3. Penguin's Rise- It is nice to see where the Penguin roots in crime began and he already is menacing having stolen a car, murdered, held a kid for ransom and will crawl back to Gotham once he is powerful enough. I can't wait to see him return to Gotham City.
4. Bruce Wayne- It was interesting to see Bruce Wayne creep up on Alfred and Gordon, test himself, and draw what appears to be ideas for what will eventually become the Batcave. I like where his character is headed and the roots for what will drive him to be the Batman.
5. Arkham Asylum- It was revealed that in the world of Gotham, Arkham Asylum has been closed for 15 years, and I'm hoping it will be reopened by the end of the season.
