'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 2 Episode 16 'Afterlife' Review

Non Spoiler Review- Another thrilling episode that has many twists, reveals and action sequences that help to elevate the series further.

Highlights of the episode 

1. Skye's mom is alive- We get confirmation that the woman who speaks to Skye to prevent her from attacking Reina is her mother. This is confirmed when she speaks to Skye's father and refers to Skye as their child. So it seems she did recover from Whitehall's experiments due to her healing so this means Whitehall could possibly return since he took her organs and possesses her powers as well. However Skye never really knew her parents until she met her father so i doubt she will recognize her mom but her mother may reveal to Skye is her daughter. 

2. Deathlok is back- Deathlok makes his return in this episode as reinforcement to help Coulson hijack a Quinjet. I was very excited to see him return because I enjoy his character and seeing his powers, etc on screen. For a moment I thought the reinforcements could be Hawkeye, due to all of the rumors Hawkeye might make a cameo appearance on the show but if he does cameo it's more likely to occur in the 'Avengers Age of Ultron' tie-in episode.

 3. Fitz takes Fury's toolbox- Fitz decides to leave the SHIELD base for the time being because he doesn't agree with everything that is happening and it appears as though Simmons and Fitz are still frustrated with one another but it is all an act. Simmons helps Fitz leave with Fury's toolbox and they leave a decoy in it's place. I hope Fitz finds Coulson and joins Coulson's smaller SHIELD team to fight Gonzalez's SHIELD.

4. Inhuman Stronghold- We learn a little more about the Inhuman group who shelter from the outside world just like the comics and Skye confronts Reina. Lincoln who is helping her adjust to her powers s an interesting character and I can't wait to see the Inhumans further explored and see more diverse power set.

5. May is persuaded to join the council of "Real SHIELD"- I think May chose to join the council to interfere on behalf of Coulson in his favor and is trying to trick Gonzalez. Next week's episode will include flashbacks that will show how May really got the nickname "The Cavalry" taking down a powered individual.

6. Coulson needs Ward's help- At the end of the episode as Coulson, Hunter, and Deathlok leave, Coulson says the only person who can help them is Grant Ward. So it appears we will see Ward again next week and learn more about what he and Agent 33 are plotting.
