'Once Upon A Time' Season 3 Episode 12 'New York City Serenade' Review

First of all sorry for the late review I was out of town Mon-Wed but I watched the episode on Sunday and had plenty of time to think it over. This is my first Once Upon a Time review and I feel I started at an ideal time since it started airing again.

*******There will be Spoilers from this point on*******

I like that this episode picked up where the mid season finale ended in two places and times. The first was a year from Regina's rebooted curse in New York picking up from after Hooks arrival at her doorstep from the last episode. The majority of the episode takes place with Emma in New York leaving what happened in the Enchanted Forest to be explored in future episodes.

New York 1 year later

It opens in this time where Emma is on a date with a man who seemed very suspicious and unusual from the beginning. He leaves the table temporarily and Hook intervenes trying to convince Emma of her true life and tries to make her remember everything. She is creeped out and very confuse by this which was pretty frustrating. Her date comes back and proposes to Emma and she is too conflicted to answer so she goes home to Henry playing video games and informs him what happened. He becomes suspicious the following morning asking her many questions. Emma then goes to Neil's apartment to find Henry's camera which was left there and meets with Hook to try to get answers. Hook then tried to convince her to drink a potion that will restore her memory as soon as this is offered she gets some officers to arrest Hook. She then meets up with Henry who tells her he arranged a date with her friend. Emma opens the envelope Hook gave her to find pictures of her from Storybrooke. She then bails Hook who now has a metal hand due to the hook being considered a weapon. He tried to get her to drink the potion but she is conflicted because she is unsure if she should give up her life to learn about her old one. She drinks it and remembers everything. They return to her apartment to tell her there was a new curse and Emma is needed in Storybrooke. Hook reveals he only has one potion so Henry can't remember yet. Walsh shows up and takes Emma up to the roof top to talk. Emma unknowingly reveals she drank the potion and Walsh reveals he was one of the Wicked Witch's flying monkeys as he transforms and attacks Emma. I knew he seemed suspicious thank goodness she didn't marry him. Emma fights him off with a pipe and the monkey falls and as he hits the sidewalk bursts into smoke. Emma then decides that they will leave for Storybrooke in the morning. The episode picks back up with Emma preparing breakfast for Henry asking him if he still believes in magic as he responds that as long as he gets presents he will believe. She tells him they are going to go on a trip to Storybrooke with Hook as Henry is very confused. As they roll up in the yellow car they go to David and Mary-Margaret's apartment to discover everyone is back in the town with no memory of what happened in the previous year as though they never left and that Mary-Margaret is pregnant. I believe that each episode instead of including the customary flashbacks it will include a flash back of the previous year in the Enchanted Forest.

Enchanted Forest 1 year ago

This part of the episode picks up where a majority of Storybrookians arrive scattered throughout the forest. They are greeted by Aurora and Prince Phillip who seem afraid of something. (The Wicked Witch) They offer them shelter but charming denies them saying they have their own castle. They decide to take Regina with them and claim Regina's castle. Neil then becomes interested in possibly finding Rumpelstilsken in case he may be alive in his castle somehow but Charming says that it's not possible. Belle overhears this and as they are on their journey to the castle tells Neil that they didn't see the dagger and it may be in the Enchanted Forest. Regina wanders from the group attempting to bury her heart to hide her pain of being seperated from Henry. Snow White confronts her teing her it will be ok, Regina then puts her heart in her chest and they notice something watching them. The Flying monkey emerges and attacks the duo they are rescued from Robin Hood and his band. They then all return to the rest of the gang headed to the castle and Neil has a conversation with Robin Hood about what happened in Neverland. Regina then questions whether they can trust Robin Hood, unaware that he is the man with the lion tatto she was destined to fall in love with, Snow says not to worry as they stumble on the castle. Regina becomes frustrated as they discover that someone else is inhabiting the castle and there is a protection spell she can't break. The Wicked Witch then finally makes her appearance im the last five minutes putting the queens blood in a vial and stating she will get her revenge. I'm assuming all will be revealed in te coming episodes but overall this was a good episode not as great as the previous episode but that was one of my favorite episodes made so far. I can't wait to see the Wicked Witch in Storybrooke
