'The Flash' Season 1 Episode 6 'The Flash is Born' Review

Non Spoiler Review- Not quite the strongest episode of 'The Flash' but this episode has an interesting story, as well as some character development for the main characters thanks to some flashbacks, etc. but a good episode nonetheless.

*******There will be Spoilers from this point on*******

Highlights of the episode

1. Reverse Flash confronts Joe- I found it interesting that Reverse Flash confronted Joe and threatened him and his daughter if Joe continued investigating Barry's mother's murder. I wonder if Reverse Flash will back up that threat.
2. Supersonic punch- The coolest part of the episode was when Flash ran at mach one and knocked out Girder in one punch. It was nice to see Flash continue to push the limits of his powers and can't wait to see what he dos next!
3. Joe interrogates Dr. Wells- I liked that Joe thought Dr. Wells could possibly be the man who killed Barry's mother and had supporting possible evidence that Wells arrived in Central City around the time Barry's mother was killed. I thought it was interesting that Wells avoided so many of these questions and makes me even more apprehensive of him.
4. Barry confronts his bully- I liked that the Flash knew the villain this week because it added more to story because Flash must confront someone who once bullied him and is now even more powerful. The fight between the two was interesting to watch and it was cool that the Flash had something to motivate him to defeat this metahuman.
5. The Flash is named- It was nice to see that The Flash is now being called by his proper name and I like that Iris was the one who came up with the idea.

'The Flash' Season 1 Episode 5 'Plastique' Review

Non Spoiler Review- In this episode we see Barry test the limits of his powers and do some exciting things with his speed, and the special effects continue to be a positive aspect of the show.

*******There will be Spoilers from this point on*******

Highlights of the episode

 1. Gorilla Grodd- Some comic book fans may have caught the first Grodd easter egg in the pilot episode but this one is a little more obvious. There is a flashback scene of Dr. Wells speaking with the general regarding Grodd and then he tells Grodd he has big plans for him. This is exciting because it is very likely we will see Gorilla Grodd with powers on the Flash!

 2. Flash tests limits of his speed- In this episode we see Barry run up the side of a building as well as run on water. I like seeing Barry continually pushing the limits of his powers and can't wait to see how far he pushes them in the future of the show.
 3. Plastique is killed- This moment was very sad but it wasn't as impactful as it could have been because Plastique wasn't an established character but I liked how the writers added the twist that once she died she herself basically turned into a bomb and Flash must dump her body in the ocean and run fast enough to avoid the explosion.
4. A friendly Meta-Human- I was glad that this episode was a little different in that the metahuman was dangerous but wasn't insane or evil. It wa very refreshing for Flash to have a temporary ally maybe he'll meet more friendly metahumans in the show's future.
 5. Barry confronts Iris about her blog- I liked that Barry confronted Iris about the blog as both himself and the Flash. I thought it was very cool that he vibrated his vocal chords to distort his voice. Hopefully we will see more of this in future episodes!

'The Flash' Season 1 Episode 3 'Things You Can't Outrun' Review

Non Spoiler Review- Once again this keeps on running (no pun intended) getting progressively better every week. While the end fight scene may not have been the best the drama was nice as well as the plot and set up for the future of the show. Overall definitely the best episode but I'm sure next weeks will be even cooler because Captain Cold will be introduced (pun intended) and Felicity will be coming onto the show.

Highlights of the episode

1. Who is Harrison Wells?- Another reveal about Dr. Wells is made in a flash back where the particle accelerator goes off, fails, and he goes into the room where we see him in the first episode walking and watches video surveillance of Barry and says something along the lines "I'll see you soon Barry". This reveals that he is probably from the future if you factor in all the additional evidence from the previous episodes. I think it is very likely that he may turn out to be one of the Reverse Flashs.
2. Metahuman Prison- I like that they realized they needed a place to put the metahumans and it was very clever to use the particle accelerator. I wouldnt be surprised if we see some villains escape from the makeshift a few times throughout the show.
3. Barry speaks with his father- In a touching final scene Barry talks to his father once again and his father tells him that when Barry was a child he took a long time to walk but when he did start walking he ran and ran towards his mother. I really enjoy these conversations between Barry and his father and hope that they continue in future episodes.

 3. Flash is saved by Team Flash- The first time Flash runs into the Mist he inhales the poisonous gas and manages to run back to Star labs where Snow, Cisco and Dr. Wells help revive him after he goes unconscious. It is revealed that he survived because his cells grow back quicker after Snow took out some of his respiratory cells. I enjoyed this and liked that they managed to create an antidote based on the gas sample Barry obtained.
5. 'Fire and Ice' Reference-  Kaitlyn Snow makes a comment that she and Ronnie were like "fire and ice". This is a reference to the character's comic book counterparts Firestorm and Killer Frost. We know that in the show we will see Ronnie become the Firestorm and we may see Snow become Killer Frost.Their characters are pictured below.

'The Flash' Season 1 Episode 1 'City of Heroes' Review

Non Spoiler Review- This show had a great first episode and hits the ground running! (no pun intended) Grant Gustin does a fantastic job portraying the Flash. The visual effects were great and I loved the sequences that were done in slow motion to reiterize that Barry Allen moves faster than the world around him and also enjoyed the effects for when Flash was running. The supporting cast is also great but the villain of the episode was a little lame and didn't really have much importance. Im excited for where the show is headed though!

Highlights of the episode

 1. 'Arrow' crossover- Definitely a major highlight was when Barry goes to Oliver Queen for advice. I was very glad that the producers decided to include this cameo because it helps to tie the shows together in the same world. I can't wait for the upcoming Flash/Arrow crossover episode!
 2. The suit- I love this version of the Flash's suit because it is very modern because its not too bright of a red. I think it looks very nice and can't wait to see it progress into the classic suit.
 3. This futuristic newspaper article- I was very intrigued by this and can't wait to learn more about it and how Dr. Wells got this. I wonder if The Flash will explore time trave soon.
4. Who is Dr. Wells?- Ok so obviously Dr. Wells is from the future or something and I'm curious how he stood up despite being wheelchair bound. I can't wait to find out more about his character.
5. Reverse Flash- Fans of the Flash will recognize that Reverse Flash was the one who killed Barry's mother. You can make out the shape of a yellow and red man moving at super speed, which is pictured above.  Can't wait to see him fight the Flash.
