'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 22 'Happy Families Season Finale Review

Non Spoiler Review- Despite how boring and repetitive 'Gotham' can be, this episode was very refreshing and probably the best episode all season long. There are many plot twists and surprises and this episode is one of few 'Gotham' episodes that didn't feel overcrowded with a majority of the story arcs coming to an end and tying together.

Highlights of the episode 

1. Penguin is the "King of Gotham"- At the very end of the episode Penguin is the only mob boss left as Falcone is retiring, Fish killed Maroni and Penguin killed Fish. I'm very pleased with this for multiple reasons Penguin has pretty much reached his persona, he just needs to gain a little weight. But all jokes aside, this means season 2 won;t contain the same old mob drama and looks to feature hopefully more refreshing and interesting story arcs that aren't too predictable. One powerful moment however was when Butch was forced to choose between helping Fish and Penguin and shoots both of them. I expected Butch to pick a side but it seems that the hypnosis was too strong. Fish isn't necessarily confirmed dead since she only fell into the river and we didn't see a dead body so it's possible Fish could return next season but I hope this is the end of her character so the show can focus on other characters. 

2. The Batcave- Bruce and Alfred begin investigating and looking for clues about Thomas Wayne and come upon what could only eventually become the Batcave, an iconic part of the Batman mythos. I'm curious to learn what Thomas Wayne had in the cave and what will inspire Bruce to make it his base of operations in the future. 

3. The Riddler- A very small scene in the episode shows that Ms. Kringle discovered Nygma's riddle asks him about it and he pretends to be oblivious to it. As she leaves he then begins showing signs of becoming insane as he talks to himself and laughs maniacally.

4. Barbara is crazy- While everything else is occurring, Barbara has a therapy session with Dr. Thompkins where she reveals that she was the one who killed her parents and then attacks Thompkins, presumably in an attempt to kill her. Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, and Falcone arrive when Thompkins is pummeling Barabara so I'm interested in discovering what will become of Tompkins and Barbara next season.  

5. Jim Gordon will protect the city- As Falcone is speaking to Gordon he gives him a knife that was given to him by Jim's father and tells Gordon he must watch over the city now. I'm interested to see how well jim Gordon will be able to eliminate corruption and what will become of those who swapped allegiance to Maroni now that he is dead. 

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 15 'The Scarecrow' Review

Non Spoiler Review- I consider this the best episode of 'Gotham' to date, there were great interactions between characters, and I'm very excited to possibly see an early version of the Joker next week. Overall, a great episode and i'm very excited for next week.

Highlights of the episode

1. Penguin's club- Penguin is now officially in charge of Fish Mooney's former club and it is currently called Oswald's. I hope this club will evolve to eventually become the Iceberg Lounge given there were few people present at it's opening.  

2. Maroni confronts Cobblepott- I liked it when Maroni and Falcone arranged a deal to not kill Penguin and thought it was very interesting when he approached Penguin and told him that he better hope that Falcone lives a long life. 

3. Riddler meets Penguin- One of the fun aspects of this week's episode was that Penguin met the Riddler and I thought their interaction was very amusing. I liked when Penguin told Nygma, "Do you know who you're standing next to?" and Nygma takes a step back. It was hilarious to see Penguin waddle and Nygma nerd out. 

4. Alfred and Bruce watch the sun rise- A heartfelt moment of the episode was when Alfred came to help Bruce and the two watched the sun rise. These two are one of my favorite parts of the show i really enjoy this Alfred and young Bruce and hope for more great moments from them. 

5. Scarecrow- This episode gave birth to the Scarecrow and showed what happened to the young Jonathan Crane. One thing that annoyed me about his origin is that his father is more like the Scarecrow character than his son who is the Scarecrow character. I'm getting tired of seeing so and so's parent portray basically the same character. i hope they jump forward in time or focus more on the mob drama aspect of the show with Maroni, Falcone and Penguin.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 12 'What the Little Bird Told Him' Review

Non Spoiler Review-  The best episode of the season so far. This episode has some intriguing mob drama as well as great character development. Probably the strongest episode of the show so far, I can't wait for the next episode!

Highlights of the episode

1. Falcone takes Mooney off the board- I liked the ending and all the mob drama that has built up to this episode. I thought it was interesting that Falconer admired defeat to save Liza then realized that everything Penguin told him was true. He then choked Liza to death and overwhelmed Mooney and revealed Penguin had helped him. I'm excited because it loos as though Mooney's club will become the Iceberg lounge based on the promo for next week's episode. 

2. Gordon is reinstated- Gordon is now a detective again at the GCPD. I didn't feel as though he really was able to fight corruption from Arkham so I'm glad he is back. 

3. Penguin spills the beans- I thought this scene was hilarious where Penguin wakes up dazed an confused and accidentally tells Marconi he was going to meet Falcone then falls unconscious again. I'm glad Penguin was able to escape Marconi so now he's completely with Falconer. 

4. The Electrocutionor- It was interesting to see another villain on  the show who I recognize from the Batman Arkham Origins game but I think Jack Gruber is that Electrocutionor's brother. I hope more villains like Gruber will join the show. 

5. Dr. Thompkins kisses Gordon- I was very shocked to see Gordon kiss her so soon after Barbara leaving and I'm curious if Barbara will return and what will transpire between Gordon and these two.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 10 'Lovecraft' Mid-Season Finale Review

Non Spoiler Review- A weaker episode but it manages to prominently feature a character we haven't seen too much of and set up for the second half of the season.

Highlights of the episode

1. Alfred and Bruce reunited- the best moment of the episode was when alfred finally found bruce after Bruce and Selina were pursued it was a very heartfelt moment. I hope Alfred and Bruce wayne will continue to be a primary part of the show in it's future.

2. Gordon sent to Arkham- At the end of the episode Gordon is sent to be a security guard at Arkham as punishment for what happened to Lovecraft. I'm curious to see if he becomes a detective again by the end of the season.

3. Falcone suspects Penguin- In the beginning of the episode, Falcone interrogates Penguin because he believes that Cobblepot told Maroni about Falcone's money and organized the heist. Cobblepot is able to convince him that it wasn't him and then blames Fish mooney, who committed the action. I was interested that Falcone didn't believe him because Cobblepot hates Mooney so much. I wonder if he will discover Mooney's plot soon. 

4. Alfred- The best performance of the episode was definitely Alfred. We get to see Alfred bribe a young man with a hundred dollar bill without even being concerned of giving the money away, and fight thugs in his quest to find Bruce. This reveals that Alfred would do anything for Bruce Wayne. I hope to see more Alfred in the second half of the season.

5. Bruce and Selina- We once again see Selina and Bruce's relationship develop on screen. We see Selina actually kiss Bruce at the end of the episode after flirting with him for the entire episode. I liked that she gave back everything that she stole from him at the end of the episode instead of taking it and selling it.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 7 'The Penguin's Umbrella' Review

Non Spoiler Review- Sorry for the late review. This episode contains plenty of  action and great moments for the Penguin. There's a lot of drama now that Oswald Cobblepot has revealed that he is alive. I can't wait for the escalation of the war for Gotham!

Highlights of the episode

1. Penguin is working with Falcone- This was by far the biggest plot twist of the season where it is revealed Penguin planned everything that took place and is working with Falcone. The flashback revealed that Falconer and Penguin are manipulating everything that transpires. 



2. War over Penguin- Penguin's return brought a lot of drama to Gotham City and it was interesting to see that Penguin's prediction that there would be war came very close to becoming a reality.

3. Gordon and Bullock try to arrest Falcone and Mayor- I liked that Gordon wanted to go out in a blaze of glory and attempt to arrest the corrupt people of Gotham. It was very interesting that Penguin is really the only reason that Falcone let Gordon live. It shows how much power Cobblepott really has and how he's manipulating everyone in his rise to power.

4. Victor Zsaz- It was nice to see another Batman villain brought to the show and it was so creepy to see him kill a lady then carve a tally mark into his arm. The character does this every time he kills someone in the comics and is part of what makes the character so insane. His scene in the police scene was great and I hope to see him more as one of Falcone's hitmen.

5. Montoya teams up with Gordon- It was really surprising that Montoya was able to show up in the knick of time to save Gordon. I like that they put aside their differences to do what was right in solving the Wayne murder case as well as stopping the corrupt officials of Gotham.

'Gotham' Season 1 Episode 5 'Viper' Review

Non Spoiler Review- Definitely one of the better episodes so far. This episode further develops the characters of Alfred, Oswald Cobblepot, Fish Mooney, Bruce Wayne, and Gordon of course. And I love character development! Also we see the gears start moving in Fish Mooney's plan to rise to power. Another great episode of 'Gotham'! I'm looking forward to Scarecrow in next week's episode!

Highlights of the episode 

1. Alfred helps out Bruce- At the end of the episode we see Alfred have a change of mood and he assists Bruce Wayne in his investigation of Wayne Enterprises. It was a very touching moment that made me let out an audible "Aw", which is why this moment was bumped up to my #1 highlight of the episode because we see the relationship of Alfred helping out Bruce begin. 

2. Maroni gains the Penguin as a weapon against Falcone- Definitely one of the best parts of the episode was this side story where Penguin confesses where he came from and Maroni grows worried so he kidnaps Gordon. I was glad Gordon told the truth so we can continue to see Penguin in the show. Penguin's confession earned him another promotion and Maroni uses his knowledge of Falcone's facilities to get a hit on Falcone. I'm excited to see more of the Penguin's rise to power. 

3. Wayne Enterprises is corrrupt- Another interesting revelation is that Wayne was developing chemical weapons, the first of which being venom which is where Bane's powers come from. 

4. Fish Mooney trains and deploys her new weapon- This was an interesting aspect of the episode. I liked how Fish Mooney was hard on her and said not to call her mother yet because she has to prove herself. I'm Fish Mooney will continue to use her against Falcone. 

5. Edward Nigma's obsession with the Viper drug- One interesting little scene was where Nygma talks about the Viper drug. It reveals his obsession with evil things and whatnot and I can't wait to finally see him become the Riddler.
